SUMMARY:
As kids, we thought grown-ups had so much fun. How we wished we could grow up fast.
If only we knew what we were wishing for…
Three pieces of a soul, they'd call themselves…soul sisters… and this is their journey…a journey through the lives of three best friends who accidentally reunite after a decade long disconnection. A round of startling revelations later, the three realize that life is indeed unpredictable. However, in this world of uncertainty, there is just one thing they can still be sure of...their friendship!
With secrets confessed, pain shared, tears shed and troubles discussed, they help find answers to each other's problems, just like old times.
Each has a lesson to learn from the other… a story to tell… a reason to say 'I'm sorry'… and a reason to say 'Thank you'
Has destiny brought them together to complete the picture?
Will they succeed in finding the missing pieces?
Can every twist of fate be interpreted in just one way?
Join Sharvari Joshi, Parizaad Sethna and Nandini Mazumdar in a nostalgic journey from girlhood to womanhood.
'Twists of Fate' promises to be a roller coaster ride of emotions that will captivate the reader's heart and leave him pondering on life, fate and all its conspiracies.
REVIEW:
Starting from page 1 / Prologue, which contains a most beautiful description of Mumbai as a place with a heart and soul rather than a city made of bricks, I fell in love with the writing style. It was an amazing experience to be able to visit a place in your mind when you have not ever visited it in person. The grammar is good and the words are not too complicated, in a desperate effort to sound knowledgeable. Much like the story itself the language is normal, down to earth, and very pleasant.
Three friends, who call themselves soul sisters, are together since first grade, age 6. They belong to various strata of the society, they are as dissimilar in features as they are alike. They maintain their friendship and tide through life, falling, getting up, learning, when fate (?) pushes them in different directions. Love, Marriage and Careers push them apart much like boats cast aside in the storm.
The switch between the part showing the three of them together as girls and then apart as grown women is seamless. The girls are on a constant journey where hands that were held tight slowly losing their hold and drifting away. But soul sisters are not separated that easily. And when a human really needs something, the whole universe conspires to help them achieve it.

Parizaad, Sharvari and Nandhini might not have consciously wanted the separation or the union, but fate pushes them together again in ways they won’t expect. What happens when they meet an older version of the carefree friend they knew, and what happens when the responsibilities of life had taken their toll on the bright young women is described in a beautiful way.
Without revealing much of the plot, I will delve into the writing style. The author has gained my immense respect for writing such a beautiful novel. The writing is clear and simple and seems to flow from feelings rather than a commercial motive. The emotions portrayed are relatable, life size and obviously felt by most of us at one point of time in our lives. You as a reader will relate to at least one character in the book.
The plot line has a mild resemblance to a biographical account and though I don’t know the truth of this one, some scenes are written so powerfully as if they have been personally experienced. Kudos to the author who has written this without many other literary influences and for not seeming like a first time author in even one place in the book. Thanks a ton for giving me a chance to read this book, Priyanka, and I hope to read all of your further works.

SPECIAL MENTION: Finally a trailer that does justice to the book!

WHAT I LIKED:
          The story, the language.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER:
The story seems longer than necessary in some places, that could have been edited to give a crisper feel.
VERDICT:
Go for it, you won’t regret this.
RATING: 4.2/5
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Priyanka hails from the beautiful land of Goa. She is a doctor by profession and a writer at heart. She runs a private clinic where she consults as General Physician and Diabetologist. She is a perfectionist by nature and a gypsy by habit…a realist by design and a dreamer by default. Sometimes jaded and sometimes overtly optimistic, she is quite a paradox trying to figure out her role in the grand scheme of things. She has won several elocution competitions during her school days, and has had her poems and articles published in newspapers and magazines.
Being a blogger for the last twelve odd years, it is the love of her readers and friends that has inspired her to come out with a book. She believes everybody who has a story to tell deserves a chance to be heard. She has faith in the power of words. She celebrates the magic of bonds (like the one already formed between you and her) that exist despite time, space and lack of physical proximity.
Proud winner of the 'Literary Diva 2015 (Best Writer-Female)' award, she owes her success to the love of her readers, and her love for writing.
Her other interests include travelling and music.
